They Dedicated A Piano To Us.

I still can’t believe it.

Our annual rock concert school fundraiser, Tellerpalooza, was on May 11th and it was incredible. We raised $18,000 for Dex’s school in one night – with the help of amazing performers like Gregg Tobo, John Common, Fierce Bad Rabbit, Rachel and The Kings, Eldren and The Foot.

Check out this quick recap video that shows off what a wonderful event it is. Where the school band and choir are the opening act, and our whole community – not just Teller parents – comes together to celebrate music and fun.

It was our last year heading the committee for Tellerpalooza, so of course I was a little sentimental. That night, and for a while after. We have been helping with this event for a long time, and while I am definitely ready to pass the reigns on to our qualified successors (it’s a lot of work, yos!) – I would be lying if I said I am not going to miss it.

I didn’t have time to really think about it because there was the whirlwind of Dex’s graduation from elementary school to deal with. He got some awards and people said some astounding things about him – stuff for another post because I really can’t even go there without crying yet.

And trust me, we never did Tellerpalooza for the thanks – but there have been many. From the parents – AND the bands who have played and had a blast. Which means we were absolutely flabbergasted when, at the very end of Dex’s commencement ceremony, which had been moved to the high school since there was not enough room for us at Teller, the principal talked about the baby grand piano back at the elementary school. She talked about how all these 5th graders had decorated stars – the theme of the night – which were now all over the piano… and how perfect it would be to dedicate the piano to … us.

Our son walked over with a photo of the piano.

The three of us stood there and hugged while people applauded.

I still can’t believe it.
