Getting Adventurous In The Air & On Land

Note: This is a sponsored post. However, all words and photos are mine.

A few months ago, I visited the Uvalde Proving Grounds with Continental Tire and I told you all about the tire safety issues we learned about. What I hinted at, but didn’t get a chance to share till now, were all the adventures we had. Not only were the folks from Continental incredibly nice, they were a ton of FUN.

I have never thought of myself as a dare devil, really. Especially when it comes to heights – a good dose of fear usually guides my decisions. But when they offered us a helicopter tour up above the 5,000 acre testing center, something in me said I needed to go. And somehow I wasn’t scared at all. Maybe it was the open air. Maybe it was how they strapped us in with about 50 seat beats. Maybe it was how knowledgeable our pilot was. Maybe I was just high from driving cars at high speeds on wet tar.

Whatever it was, I *loved* it.

We also got to experience “drift” with BMW professional driver Tommy Van Cleef. He goes so fast and burns his tires so much, he has to change them every 5 laps. If you are wondering what “drift” is – it’s that thing Lightening McQueen did in Cars – “turn right to go left.” I have no photos of it because I was holding on for dear life.

What is do have photos of is our Baja Track ride. Like for real, built to be just like California, that kind of Baja Track ride.

I even have video. What you *can’t* hear is me screaming the whole time because we have breathing tubes into our helmets. I know my poor driver could hear me, because we had microphones so we could communicate with each other.

The part where you can only see my jeans? We’re in the air. The part when all the dirt comes up? We hit tree.

I am sure that poor guy is deaf now.

But it was all worth it.

Apparently I *am* a daredevil.
