Riot Fest Denver 2014 Ticket Contest

Giveaway: Win Tickets To Riot Fest Denver 2014 (New Location!)

Note: Riot Fest has provided tickets and artwork but all words and concert photos are mine.

You may remember this little thing called Riot Fest that consumed my family last September? When my friend Charlotte flew in from Seattle and Monika and I wore bandanas because of the dust and I took photos of The Replacements in dresses and cowboy hats? Oh yeah, that music festival – where my 11 year old son saw Iggy Pop perform within 24 hours of Public Enemy.

Want to see how completely epic it was? Check out my photos from last year:

Here’s the thing. Riot Fest was actually held about an hour outside of Denver last year in a very tiny town called Byers. A town that didn’t like all these punk rock kids invading their hamlet, so Riot Fest lost their permit for 2014’s festival. In some ways, this is a bummer because part of the charm was the absolute agoraphobia we all experienced when we entered the Riot Fest field. (Yeah, um, in a lot of ways, I wanted Riot Fest Denver to actually be in Denver.)

The good news is Riot Fest has an alternative to Byers:
Sports Authority Field At Mile High.

Yup, the home of the Broncos is making room for another music festival (Mile High Stadium also hosts events like the Warped Tour) but not only that… they are allowing Riot Fest to bring Byers to the heart of Denver. Examples: turfing the parking lot, tractors, hay bales, carnival games and rides (ferris wheel!), miniature golf, pie-eating contests and apple bobbing.

I also love how, in keeping with Riot Fest’s incredible sense of humor on social media (seriously, their Twitter account is pure genius), all the stages and concert areas have been re-named as a tribute to last year’s home.

But all this would be nothing without the music.

Yeah, they are not kidding around here. Please note there are several locals in that lineup, including pals My Body Sings Electric. A future Riot Fest post will have an interview with them and I cannot guarantee that any of it will be safe for work.

The best part. In line with last year, when I finally saw The Replacements after all these years… they’re gonna do it again for me with Robert Smith and The Cure.

THE &*%^$* CURE.

How many of the above bands do YOU want to see?

I am super happy I can help you out with that. I have two (2) sets of two (2) general admission 3-day passes to give away and there are a variety of ways to enter, as outlined in the Rafflecopter widget below. Please note that you must be from the USA or Canada, 18+ and able to attend Riot Fest Denver from September 19 – 21, 2014. There is a bunch of other gunk in the contest rules that you may want to read, but those are the highlights. GOOD LUCK!

There are too many to name! I haven’t seen Flaming Lips yet, so I’m excited to see them. Manchester Orchestra is always amazing and I missed their last show here in Denver. The Unlikely Candidates were awesome at Firefly Music Festival and I loved getting to meet them after their set – so looking forward to seeing them again as well!

    • Aimee

We’ll just have to wear our bandanas no matter what the weather! 😉

  2. Bryan Bugfrog

I will see whatever you two tell me to see.

  3. Becca H.

I’ve never been to anything like this before. I wanted to go last year, but it didn’t work out. I was in the middle of living in a homeless shelter. I don’t know who I’m more excited about seeing. Definitely the Cure. But, there are so many! No matter where it’s held, I’m sure it will be a good show.

    • Aimee

So glad you can make it this year! Good luck!

There are so many awesome bands playing. The Used is probably one of my all time favorite bands so if I had to pick one, it’d be them.

This question, who would I most want to see at Riot Fest is the most difficult question EVER! So many amazing bands to see. I go to a lot of shows, but have not had the chance to see some of these, who I consider to be or have been a favorite band of mine! TV on the Radio, Violent Femmes, WEEZER, Flaming Lips….and even the probable intense entertainment of Die Antwood! Truly, there aren’t more than a couple bands on this list that I wouldn’t want to see. However…..#1 for me has to be The Cure. My best friend and I first became friends drunkenly dancing in her living room to the Cure….then on repeat almost every time we went out. This was only a few years ago-I also grew up hearing their music & believe they have been one of the biggest influences on what I listen to now. It would be truly…impactful, to see them. 🙂

  20. Kia

    Social D

  21. Naomi

My heart belongs to the Buzzcocks.

  22. Jess Ryan

One of my favorite jokes ever is “If you watch Weezer backwards, it’s about four rich guys who aren’t very good, but they practice hard, sacrifice all their wealth and eventually become one of the greatest bands of the decade.”

Having said that… I really wanna see Weezer again. Plus Gogol Bordello and Dropkick Murphys.

  23. Caroline

The National, hands down. So excited!

    • Aimee

You know, I have never seen them live – so i am really excited for them too!

  24. Will F

I keep tweeting! I want these tickets!

  25. Laura Kelly

Sounds like a wild, crazy good time!

  26. Anna

I want to see pretty much every band but especially Weezer because they are playing the blue album in its entirety!!

  27. Heather

Love your content and everything you do!

    • Heather

Sorry, I hit reply before I was done. I want to see Me First and the Gimme Gimmes and my husband wants to Slayer. I must admit Ive see The Cure, Social D, Weezer, and many others several times. My favorite out of those though? Can’t pick. I do love Robert Smith live.

  28. Jack

I really want to see Weezer!

  29. Music Guy

I will fly in if I win! THE CURE!

  30. Jorge Tautimer

I am going to go see Wu Tang Clan, Die Antwoord, The CURE, Bring Me The Horizon, A Day To Remember, We Came As Romans, DROPKICK Murphys and DESCENDENTS. I really want to go but am pretty broke most of the time because of school and my car breaking down so much so I hope I win these tickets! 🙂
