Gloria Ferrer Photo Contest - 4th of July

Celebrate The 4th With Gloria Ferrer Wine

independence 1I have to make a confession. It’s taken me a long time to get to like wine. It’s always sounded and smelled good to me, but I rarely chose it. Even still, I definitely tend to like my wine sparkly and cold. That’s why on holidays my best friends (who are also our family away from family) usually have bubbly on hand. We also have had semi-annual sangria parties around mid-June, where lots of red and white wine is mixed with juice and spritzer.

Fourth of July is quickly approaching which means a picnic and fireworks with the aforementioned best friends. Sometimes we will go to an Outlaws lacrosse game because they play in Mile High Stadium, thus placing us directly UNDER the fireworks… But lately we have had more low-key gatherings. So we can enjoy each other and avoid the crowds.

This year, we are planning to do a little of both over at Dick’s Park with the Colorado Rapids at their free 4th Fest. Tailgating and carnival stuff, plus fireworks  later in the evening. This way we can do a picnic too – since we much prefer to bring our own drinks and food than buy corndogs. I’m especially excited this year because I have Gloria Ferrer Blanc De Noirs for the festivities.

To give you some history: Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards is Carneros’ original sparkling wine house, owned and founded by the Ferrer family of Spain. Named for José Ferrer’s wife, Gloria, the winery opened in 1986 in the now-famous region in southernmost Sonoma County. Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards was the fulfillment of a longtime family dream: to make world-class méthode champenoise sparkling wines in an exceptional New World terroir.

Bryan and I just passed our 19th wedding anniversary and for our honeymoon, we visited San Francisco and the wine country. Like I said, I was not the wine person in the family but of course I enjoyed the visit, even though Bryan did most of the wine tasting. Still, I distinctly remember (even all these years later) that I liked the stop at Gloria Ferrer best, and we definitely purchase their sparkling wines because of it.

Even more amazing: Gloria Ferrer wines have earned over 400 gold medals and 50 90+ scores in the last 5 years.
