Merlin Camp in Boulder
I was very lucky to work with author T.A. Barron last summer on his web site. Not only is he a very talented writer, he is a very nice person. When I heard he was starting Merlin Camp in Boulder this summer, I was very sad my son is now too old to attend.
If you have not heard of him, T. A. Barron is the award-winning and New York Times bestselling author of the Merlin Saga, which has sold millions of copies worldwide. The Lost Years of Merlin was recently optioned for a major motion picture by Disney, with screenplay by Philippa Boyens (one of the screenwriters for the Lord of the Rings films).
Merlin Camp For Young Wizards!
This summer, Boulder Book Store, the Boulder Public Library and T. A. Barron are joining forces to create Merlin Camp, an exciting summer camp experience. Within Colorado’s natural backdrop, kids will explore and learn about wizard lore, create their own magical staffs, stir up secret potions, join in a grand wizard’s quest, as well as meet with the great wizard himself, T.A. Barron.
“Merlin is a character who is so dear to my heart and I’m thrilled that young people will be able to have a magical experience that makes the most of the outdoors and their imaginations,” said Barron, a Boulder resident whose exploration of Merlin spans 13 books, including a companion book, and a collection of Merlin’s wisdom. “I’m excited to be partnering with Boulder Book Store and the Boulder Public Library, two incomparable institutions for those who love literacy, books and so much more.”
Merlin Camp will operate two one-week sessions (1st session: June 9-12; 2nd session: June 13-17).
Each week will be open to a limited number of children ages 9 – 12.
