Riu Palace Riviera Maya: Chandeliers By The Beach

Note: A portion of our trip was provided by Riu Hotels. However, all words and photos are mine.

It’s been ten years since we visited the Riviera Maya area of Mexico. And the last time we were there, I broke my ankle! Lucky for me, this trip – and our time at Riu Palace Riviera Maya – were totally incident-free. In fact, everything was exactly what you want from a beach vacation. Well, the weather was maybe a touch cool (75 F) for Mexico, but I will let Riu off the hook for that.

As in 2006, our best friends Danielle, Jeff and their son joined us. We consider each other “framily” in that we spend holidays and vacations together. This time was extra, extra special because we watched the Denver Broncos win the Super Bowl while drinking cervezas on the beach. WOOT! Continue reading…

Manuel Antonio Luxury Hotel: Parador Resort

Note: Part of my stay was covered by Parador Resort. All words and photos are mine.

When I was searching for a hotel during the Manuel Antonio portion of our recent trip to Costa Rica, one resort popped up over and over again: The Parador in Quepos.

Manuel Antonio is a must-see travel destination: a national park with beautiful beaches and the most bio-diversity in Costa Rica, within a country that touts the highest density of bio-diversity in the world. So, of course, I knew we wanted to visit the area and was happy to come across Parador Resort, which combines luxury accommodations with environmentalism.

Nature Cat TV Show from PBS KIDS

Nature Cat in the New Year

One of my favorite new PBS KIDS shows will have a new special on January 18th! NATURE CAT is all about the outdoor adventures of a goofy house cat. It packs a whole lot of environmentalism and physical activity into a television show, which is a weird concept, I know. But Fred and his friends encourage kids to “play the show” – meaning, take the skills they learn and go outside to use them. Like my kid who has grown up in downtown Denver, Nature Cat loves the outdoors but isn’t quite sure what to do there. I love the mix of humor, adventure and great animation that encourages all of us to be brave. Not surprising since the show was created by the Rudman Brothers, of Cookie Monster and Jack’s Big Music Show fame. Heart emoji.

Looking To The Future With Ford Trends

Jimmy_Kimmel_LiveI feel lucky to have a long-standing relationship with Ford. Sometimes we do super fun things together, like hanging out at the Jimmy Kimmel Live show and then checking out the 2017 (yes, 2017) Ford Escape during the Los Angeles Auto Show. But every time I attend a Ford Trends Event, I learn new things too, and not just about cars.

I also have been lucky to attend the “Further With Ford” conference several times, and listen to Sheryl Connelly speak about trends. Again, not just trends in the automotive industry. Of course Ford is interested in how all these affects them as a company, but the variety of topics always show me they are thinking about what people are doing both in and out of their cars.

Today Sheryl and Ford has released the fourth-annual Looking Further with Ford Trend Report which takes you through the 10 trends that are expected to shape the global consumer climate across all industries for 2016. Continue reading…
