I know I am jinxing myself as I type this, but…

…but Declan has been an absolute joy all weekend long. None of the whining, screaming, demanding behaviors that have been so prevalent for the past month or so. Just a totally rational, happy, sweet little boy.

For example, I was cleaning today. Declan came over and whispered in my ear, “Mommy, thank you for vacuuming my floor. I also appreciate you for washing my toy bag in the bathroom.” And then he walked away humming a happy little tune. I just stared at him with my mouth hanging open. (Of course, part of his cheerfulness could be that I didn’t make him clean his room or the bathroom).

Also, just now, he asked if he could have apple juice in the morning. I took a sharp intake of breath because I know we have no apple juice and, lately – such a calamity would have thrown him into a screaming fit. I said, “Sorry, we don’t have any apple juice.” To which he replied, “That’s OK, we can go to the store in the morning and get some.” And since he has been so good all weekend, I braved the next comment, “Well, we really don’t have time to go shopping before school – how about we put it on the grocery list for next time?” And he smiled and said, “Sure, no problem.”

What the hell?!?!?!

I am writing this all down so that when he reverts back to hell boy, I have something to reminisce about.
