You gotta do the work!

I know I am lucky. My husband rocks. He is hilarious, thoughtful, smart and kind.

You should see my mom when we walk in the door. If she could get away with actually pushing me to the ground in her haste to get to Bryan, she would.

Everybody loves Bryan.

And everybody thinks we are like this perfect couple.

But you wanna know the truth?

There are times when we don’t get along. We get sick of each other. We fight.

But every single morning, we wake up and make the big commitment. The commitment that our marriage is the most important relationship in our lives and we are willing to do what it takes. The compromises. The dealing.

I can be a bitch. He can be an idiot. There are days we just ignore it and let it go. There are days we stop and say, “Dude! Stop treating me like that!”

But either path is taken with one very important companion: respect.

Yes, sometimes we get indignant when people tell us how lucky we are, or act like our marriage just magically fell into our laps. (We work hard, yo!)

But most days we just laugh. If they aren’t willing to do the work, it’s their loss. They have no idea what they are missing.
