Siz, not really – we usually get our first arctic blast around Halloween. And November is our wettest month. But not to worry – back up to 70 by Wednesday!

My kids always went trick or treating with their winter coats over their costumes. Usually it was rain, but occasionally snow. It gets kinda nutty weather-wise around Iowa in late October, too.

You’ll have to pose pictures of Declan in costume!

Snow? This winter thing is coming on much too quickly. I’m in the PAC NW and historically we have fabulous Octobers and this year it’s been cold drippy rain. Except for right now when I’m stuck at the office all day it looks fabulous out.

Because of that first arctic blast, we always plan warm fuzzy costumes of some kind! For all of us!

Kelly, I read somewhere that the family line should be “it’s not in the budget” rather than “we can’t afford it” because the kids don’t believe you when they see you buying all sorts of other things that *do* cost more… and when you talk in terms of budget, it’s about making the pieces fit together and planning, yadda yadda. And like we actually HAVE a “budget.”

I’m SO with you on the lesson in family economics. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve said, “No, honey, we can’t afford it” (even if we sometimes really can). And I think I might be drilling in the point too hard when my daughter says, after I’ve asked her not to put something in her mouth, “Because it’s made in China?”

That looks like so much fun! I wish it would snow here – the weather can’t make up it’s mind!
