Things To Do Before I Go, Part 1

It’s Filching Friday! And I am filching from the mighty Mighty Girl herself. Maggie ran a series a while back where she listed out the Top 100 things she wanted to do before she left this earth, now listed on the main page of her site. A bunch of other people have jumped on the bandwagon and now it’s my turn.

Here is part 1 of 4! Every Friday I will add another installment.

1. Visit my grandmother’s grave.
2. Learn how to knit.
3. Publish a book of my nature photos.
4. Watch Declan ride a bike with no training wheels.
5. Visit Australia and meet the Wiggles. Including Greg.
6. Throw a perfect bowl on the pottery wheel.
7. Take voice lessons.
8. Do a zipline tour in a really humid and tropical jungle.
9. Ride a horse on a beach.
10. Build a master suite in the attic of our house.
11. Have sinus surgery to remove my Haller Cells.
12. Take a class about cheese. And then pretend I am Wallace.
13. See Crowded House in concert again.
14. Regrow a peony bush in my backyard. (Sadly, we had to chop down a fabulous specimen to make room for our fence.)
15. Learn to cook spaetzle like my Tante Annie and bread dumplings like my Tante Gretel.
16. Visit Ardmore, Ireland – birthplace of Saint Declan.
17. Do Denver’s Moonlight Classic Bike Ride.
18. Take a flight without Dramamine.
19. Have a dog again. (It’s hard to face the fact the it won’t be Rio, though.)
20. Take Declan to Red Rocks for a show.
21. Drive on the wrong side of the road.
22. Ice skate in Rockefeller Center.
23. Have our names imprinted on a park bench after a large donation of money, then inspire young lovers, just like Notting Hill.
24. Go golfing just once and see if it is actually as boring as it looks.
25. Watch Declan tromp through my great-grandparents home in Germany.

What would be on your list?

    I love Wallace!

  2. Kathy

I’ve had a crush on Greg from the Wiggles for a LONG time.

  3. Beckie

A very achievable list so far – can’t wait for the next installment.

  4. zipper

Half my list would involve being naked, so I won’t share.

  5. nutmeg

Hang out with Greeblemonkey and Bryan!

I can’t come up with anything. Man, what’s that say about me?

  8. Ali

i love this. but the wiggles, really? 🙂

  9. Aimee Greeblemonkey

Ha, Ali, it’s for Declan more so. When we do his bedtime routine, almost every night when I ask what he wants to dream about, he says he wants to go to Australia and meet the Wiggles. Bryan and I have wanted to go to Australia for our whole lives so we support his dreams. And the Wiggles are not the Wiggles without Greg.

Have you come to BlogHer this year and smooch you?

  14. Aimee Greeblemonkey

Jen, after pressure from you and others, we talked about it- but alas… It is the weekend of the Mile High Music Festival, which we already spent big bucks on and will be Declan’s first major concert. So, no smooches this year!

Ambassador, if this was a wish list of “things I’d like to see happen in my lifetime,” then legalized same sex marriage would be very near the top. (I mean, I need to save room for “World Peace,” right?!

And dude, you have a deal! You got the raw end of the stick, though.

Red Rocks is on my 100 to-do list, too, mostly because J is determined to see Dave Matthews there. The closest we’ve gotten is my husband sitting on the front row during a quiet afternoon, strumming a DMB song on his guitar to no one in particular. I’m sure the stair-climbing joggers there appreciated the serenade…

    Marry my partner…

I can help you out on one as a trade – I can provide the vocal coaching/singing lessons in exchange for photography lessons.

Sound like a good deal to you?

  18. Aimee Greeblemonkey

Anne, Bryan and I were at the show in ’95 that DMB recorded at Red Rocks. Can you hear us screaming in the background?

  19. anne

    Why yes, yes I can!

My husband’s proudest moment is forever recorded on DVD: a brief crowd shot at a DMB concert at the Gorge where you can see a little blurred face, identified to be my husband…

I should not have clicked on your link for #11. God. I’m such a hypochondriac.

And I miss read #13 and #14 as one; See Crowded House in my backyard. Which would be so COOL!
