I Still Can’t Believe It.
I don’t usually come home with Bryan over lunch to let the dog out.
There is a reason I don’t do this.
Apparently I don’t think to shut all the doors and baby gates properly.
Which allows the 55 pound, yet still an 8 month old puppy access Declan’s room for an afternoon snack of knowledge on nearly 50 books.

Holy Crap! You gotta be kidding me! Poor DEX! So Sorry.
JESUS!
Ouch! As a lover of books, and with kids who have bookshelves full of ’em, we can spare a few if you’d like . . .
Man, that sucks!
The perils of puppy ownership!
Poor Declan, I hope he took it better than my kids would have.
I have to say – Declan was a champ!
i get upset if my cats walk on my books. if my dog ate them!? i’d go apoplectic.
OH SHIT!!!!!!!!
Oh no! What got eaten?! Seriously that would make my boys cry – Can we help replace a few with loved copies that we don’t need anymore?
You guys are so sweet! But we are good. Luckily it was nothing too sentimental – just PURE VOLUME.
Sassafras!
sigh. yes. but at least that will be fun! 😉
I see a trip to the Tattered Cover on Saturday in our future… 😉
I cannot believe that… i can’t wait to meet this puppy!!
ohhhh. poor declan.
Glad Declan was ok with it.
Time to hit B&N again right?
😉
Wow, glad it wasn’t anything sentimental. That’s some major damage. I’m in the same boat. I came downstairs and my 10 month old puppy had ripped up the carpet. Oh, the joys of dog ownership.
Oh, how I wish I couldn’t relate. Maybe you can take solace in the fact that our 10-month old pup has an affinity for wood? Maybe? Cause I sure don’t. Every time I find another hunk missing out of a piece of furniture, I die a little inside.
Oh, I’m so sorry. That would make me cry, for reals.
Oh god! The book lover in me is traumatized!
Oh no! Poor Declan. Seriously Aimee, The Boy might have pictures books he’s done with…
(Note to self — stick to the ‘no’ line on puppies.)
That sucks. KInd of funny but still sucks.
I *KNEW* there was a reason we were a cat-only household. 😉 Poor Dex… is he heartbroken, like I would’ve been about my books at his age? In fact, I think I *still* would be heartbroken if something like this happened to me at any age.
Maybe the dog’s trying to teach himself to read. By using his mouth…
Oh no! That is awful!
My Coonhound had a penchant for books well into her SENIOR years I’m afraid… and she particularly loved my 1st edition and/or author inscribed hard covers. Oy, if I hadn’t loved that damnable dog, I’d have killed her.
I’m sorry your puppy ate Dex’s books… kids books ain’t cheap & w/o thumbs, the dog can’t go to work to pay off the damage.
🙁
oh no, poor Declan!! Haven’t seen you in a while, just thought I would pop in and peek at the blog! It’s Stephanie from Babycenter! you know, Shay and Cora’s mom!
