Ignite Boulder 7
Remember that night I spent bashing my brethren mommybloggers? And then when Declan learned the f-bomb? The night where presentations last 5 minutes, slides auto-advance every 15 seconds, and everyone laughs their ass off?
It really is so much more enjoyable when you are in the audience as opposed to presenting.
You get to heckle people like Ef Rodriguez, who begins every Ignite with a song ragging on Denver. (Oh, you didn’t know there is a friendly rivalry between Denver and Boulder? Yes. Yes, there is. And that is all I am going to say about it because it is going to stay friendly.)
And then there is a series of awesome presentations on varying topics. Last week in Boulder, we heard (among other things) about jumping off cliffs, meetings that don’t suck, the history of social media (starting with PHONES), how to call in sick on a powder day, cast iron cooking (um, I need to throw out that teflon)… and Erika celebrated her birthday by giving my son Lesson #2 on the f-bomb.
All in front of 750 people at the Boulder Theater.
Have I mentioned the Colorado tech/nerd/social media community rocks?
Tara leaned over to me at one point and whispered, “Ignite is my favorite night of the month.”
Agreed.

P.S. Declan is totally the mascot of Ignite.
I wish we had that here! Very cool.
Woooooo!
I love that picture of the crowd!
Great post!! Love the pic of Declan 🙂 missed you guys a whole bunch. I’m going to have to check out the second half of the archived lifestream, I missed it!
Was a great night – love the photo of the crowd – and YES DO toss that teflon!!!

Hey, thanks for the post-Ignite overview. It was my first and I had a blast. Loved Ef’s opening song and it just got better from there.
It was an amazing night! I’m so glad I got to play my little part in it 🙂
I actually believe I said that Ignite was my favorite event in Boulder…but whatever. It was loud. You got my point. 😉
I must have been one of very few there who were not thrilled with the evening.

There is so much to like – I was sad that there were a few things that dampened the experience for me. (My wife wasn’t enjoying herself as she was feeling guilty about missing our son’s piano recital that night. I wasn’t – bad dad that I am.)
