How Sweet It Is
I am walking out the door in about 5 minutes to catch a plane to LA. With my best friend. To see the American Idol finale tomorrow. Not with my husband.
When we got the call, he said, “Go. You and Danielle will have so much fun.”
And I said, “But it’s May 26th.”
See, May 26th is our anniversary. 14 years of marriage. 14 years of ups and downs. 14 years of sharing. 14 years of give and take. 14 years of fun.
“We’ll celebrate when you get back.”
My husband is so supportive. He knows what I need before even I do.
In this case – heading to American Idol with my best friend instead of him. She and I will have a blast giggling over it all. He knew that.
Because he knows me.
A friend asked me last night how we do it.
We work hard.
We support each other.
We laugh.
That’s it.
Which I know is not easy.
As I was zipping up my suitcase, James Taylor’s “How Sweet It Is” came across my iTunes, which is technically my song with Declan.
But I will share it with Bryan for our anniversary.
Because it’s the truth.

Hey, we share an anniversary! It’s our 11th tomorrow. 🙂
When people ask me how ours has lasted, I tell them that we are both too stubborn to be the one to give up. Lol!
And we have an innate drive to prove people wrong. When we eloped after only dating 2 months, people said the marriage wouldn’t last 6 months. And yet, we’re still here.
Happy 14th Wedding Anniversary!! It is okay that you are not together because in all honesty you are 🙂 He is with you always in spirit. I speak from experience this will be our third anniversary on opposite coasts. Have fun with your friend at American Idol.
