August Greeblemix Winners! …What Music Do You Still Love?

I have this awesome photo back-up hard drive that I take on vacation with me. Thinking of the millions of gigs of space I have on that, and the fact that I was just in Maryland visiting family and then to NEW YORK CITY – imagine HOW. MANY. PHOTOS are spinning off that drive onto my computer at home right now.

Basically, you have been warned: this blog is going to become a 24/7 photo menagerie for possibly weeks on end.

In the meantime, I still need to get some music out to you guys.

Somewhat related, tomorrow night, I get to see One Eskimo, who I met at the Evo Conference and who were both great musically and but also hilarious blokes. PLUS, they are opening for one of my all time favorite bands, Keane. (They fall in line right behind Crowded House, who I have loved since I was 16, and when you fall in love at 16, it’s forever). If you have never seen Keane – do yourself (and me) a favor and go. They are among those who sound better live, if you can believe it.

Exemplified with Bad Dream, my favorite song from my second favorite band.

Enough blathering, here are the Greeblemix winners, as randomly picked by my co-workers on our video shoot this week. Send me your snail mail to aimee at greeblemonkey dot com!

    Ooh nice picks!
I heard AC/DC for the first time when I was 12 and have been in love ever since 🙂

No concerts lately – but I love your picks this month!

  4. Carissa(GoodNCrazy)

    Do not hurt me.

    The answer is Erasure.

Oh my word. (mormons try not to say God or even the Brooklyn version Gawd) but you get what I mean…

Anytime I hear ANY song by the big gay guys. I MUST Dance. And sing. badly. both. with extra full stops to be clear.

Bob Dylan and John Mellencamp just last night! Here, in Casper, at our minor league ball park! 3rd time I’ve seen Dylan, and the best by far. 2nd time he had Charlie Sexton on guitar, who is AMAZING!!
And I think you know the music I fell in love with when I was 15 and has never left my heart…;)

  6. zenrain

Also, I just saw Leo Kottke (also amazing on guitar and VERY funny!) and a gypsy band, Fishtank Ensemble. If they’re ever in your area, you MUST SEE THEM!

  7. EatPlayLove

Michael Franti at RR a few weeks ago was kick ass. As far as music I still love from my teenage days, Fugazi, Dinosaur Jr, New Order just to name a few.

    Concerts…

Last night I went to the live e-town taping at CSU, which featured Los Lobos and local sister-act, SHEL.

A few months earlier I saw the Indigo Girls at a live e-town taping at Fort Collins’ Lincoln Center (I forget the name of the Denver band that joined them.

And then there was the Pink Floyd experience cover band, with the light show and video and flying pig — very well done!

Most summers I managed to get to the live outdoor concerts at Fort Collins’ Old Town Square, but not so much this year. I caught a few acts during the Jazz Festival a few weeks ago.

Oh yeah, there was Soul Asylum and the Gin Blossoms.

Music I still love? The Beatles. The Jacksons. The Stones. The Dead. Bon Jovi. Styx. ELO. Aerosmith. Helen Reddy. The Carpenters.

  9. MICHELLEMCM

I was able to see Jack Johnson up in Michigan in July. Soon to see him here, in Florida in, a week.

I flew out to Denver to see one of my favs, BIG HEAD TODD AND THE MONSTERS, at Red Rocks. They had their 20th Anniversary of Midnight Radio. I also went to South Carloina to see them Memorial Weekend on Isle of Palms. I love watching Todd Park Mohr play his guitar.

  10. Debbie

I LOVE One Eskimo, too! I saw them live then could listen to nothing else for about two weeks straight. So talented, so good. Hope more people find them and love them like us. We could be aaaastronauts.. if you want to.

  11. Blueprint RSA

I just love listening to Backstreet boys, Nsync, 911, moffats etc.. Everytime I hear their music, it brings back old high school memories..:)
