Oops, a day late: August Greeblemix Contest!

This is what happens when you go on vacation, you kind of lose your head. Especially when vacation involves visiting you mother in the hospital for several days in a row. She is doing OK, just some of her systems are wonky after her heart surgery.

We are incredibly lucky, because her lung cancer has been diagnosed as very early stage – so basically she just needs to kick everything in the ass. Which is hard, I am sure, when your whole body is giving you a big ‘ole middle finger.

One thing that is nice about coming home to see your mom in the hospital is that you also get to see old friends, like Stacy, who is an actress an most recently has been touring the country with Menopause the Musical. This is the friend who used to come and spend Christmas with us, while my sister went to their house for Hanukkah. Ostensibly making Stacy my other sister, which is why I still call her “Sissy” to this day.

Dex kind of likes her too.
Thrilled our childhood friend Stacy came to visit us all at the hospital today. Dex loves her.

But all this running around and sleeping in strange beds and such totally clouds the brain, right? Making me totally forget Greeblemix time.

So I will do the rules a little different this time, leaving the comments open all week. Seeing as I clearly won’t be able to get back to this until I get back to it till we return from BlogHer 2010 – which we leave for tomorrow. New York here we come!

One of my childhood friends just kicked Breast Cancer in the ass and is getting married next week. I have know Lori the longest. Since we both were 3 years old. 😀 Yeah, we are both 47 now. 😛

Through the power of Facebook I kind of know what many of my childhood friends are up to these days. But I have one friend that I keep in close touch with. She is to fantastic not to keep in touch with!
So sorry about your mom. Good that it was caught early. Sending healing thoughts her way.

One is Beth from my neighborhood. She just sent her last off to college. And the other is Tina, who I knew from both church and the 13 years we traveled through school together. She’s just putting her little boy into grade school. One at each end of the mommy spectrum. I’ve known them both since we were all 5 years old. Old friends are the best friends!

  4. Oh, The Joys

Win me up, Aimee! I love your mixes. See you in a few days.

  5. Wenderina

I keep in touch with the dear ones – and I don’t even need facebook to find them. There are two in particular – Michelle (Atlanta GA) and Cindy (Rochester NY) that will always be my life long friends.

    No Blogher for me…

  6. Nat

No blogher for me. I’m just not cool enough. LOL.

We moved around a fair bit, and I don’t keep in touch with anyone really.

Glad they caught the cancer early. Sorry your family has to go through all this.

My bestie from High School is still one of my closest friends. We live states apart but still try to hang at least once a year. She knows all the dirt about me that there is, so I can’t help but make sure to keep an eye on her!

I have 2 really good friends I’ve known since 6th grade that I can see at any time and pick right up like no time has past.
Not as big a blogger as you…so…not this time. Have fun! Hope your Mom is giving a middle finger back!! 🙂

I have very few childhood friends that I keep in touch with. I’m sure if I spent time on facebook I could find more but thats OK with me.
I have one GF (ah – you met Bridget) that I keep in touch with, from High School. Thats about it really.
Hope to win another one! I seriously love your greeblemixes, I love the way you choose the songs and mix the order. Very cool indeed.
My June ’10 is sitting right in front of me right now.

Sadly, I’m not very good at keeping in touch with people, either.

When I go back to visit my folks, I usually touch base with Doreen (we always called her “Do-Do,” — like the bird — now she goes by “Doe”), who lived on my street. She wasn’t necessarily my “best” friend, she was more a wild-and-crazy class clown — but she still lives in the area, attends all the reunions, and e-mails me jokes now and then.

I’ll be seeing some of them in a couple of weeks! And considering I’ve known you for about 22 years now (more than half my life!) I guess you are one, too 🙂
