Black & White vs. Colorful

When I was in New York City a few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to grab dinner with Isabel Kallman from Alphamom. I love Isabel for so many reasons, probably more reasons than I could fill a blog post with – but one of the BIG reasons? She ENCOURAGES.

We started talked about my photography, where I wanted to go with it, and I was so INSPIRED. We talked about so many things – but ONE thing I decided to do after our talk was ORGANIZE.

And I don’t mean paper clips and filing organization, but going through my photos and thinking about them in new ways. In the past, I plopped them in sets based on TIME.

But what if I grabbed my favorites by STYLE?

Or the easiest of all, by COLOR?

BLACK & WHITE

COLORFUL

How do you organize, arrange, use, create, style, WHATEVER your photos, on Flickr or elsewhere?

    I love both of them!

I think I’m worried I won’t be able to find my photos if I don’t keep them all neat and tidy by date?

And you know what? I still can’t find them always when I want them. I end up scrolling through folders anyway.

And I would LOVE to meet Alphamom and steal a whole dinner with her too!

I was thinking how I was all inspired after having dinner with YOU!! 🙂

And… I had no idea you could do that with Flickr! WOW. SRsly some amazing photos!!

I just clicked go and watched them all float across the screen… nice ending to my day. 🙂

I, too, usually organize photos by time, but I love this idea of grouping by color. I might also like to group by subject – like photos of my son alone, photos of him with family members, photos of him with our dogs. Thanks for the inspiring and thought provoking post!

i use sets on flickr (including B&Wish), and also tags. and on my computer i save all edited photos under broad headings like people, buildings, sky, plants, critters, textured, etc.

    your sets are gorgeous!

I love the idea of colorful, black and white, playful, silly, awe inspiring etc. But truly, when you have kids and you are crazed, Its a matter of just tagging the year at this point!
