Favorite Positions

I know. I don’t often ever talk about sex here. It’s not that I’m a prude or anything. It’s just, well, it never really came up. HA. (When I go there, I GO THERE.)

But partly, I think, with my big transition in life this past Spring, I just feel like talking about different stuff. Hope that’s OK.

And I don’t want to talk about actual sexual positions specifically, although if you want to chat it up the comments, have at it! No, what I am thinking about has more to do with body image.

Because, here’s the thing. Bryan knows, after all these years, where NOT to touch me when we are having sex. Isn’t that weird? I have specific places I am so uncomfortable with, I don’t like him fondling them (“fondling” being a word I learned from teen romance novels), and we have been together so long, he knows I will chill out in the heat of the you-know-what if he goes there.

The obvious one is my stomach. I have always been a big girl, but even in thin times, I never wanted him near that region. DO NOT TOUCH MY STOMACH FOR ANY REASON. The funny thing is, being pregnant was a relief, because for the first time was all like – HEY YOU – ANYONE! – TOUCH MY BIG FAT BELLY! I LOVE ITS BIG FAT ROUNDNESS!

Some of that affection for its roundness lingered, but not much.

There are other places too, that make me uncomfortable, but they aren’t as BIG and ROUND and OBVIOUS as my belly.

Does Bryan care about my belly? Hell no.

Is it sad that that *I* care about my belly? Hell yes.

Is it wonderful that my husband thinks about these things and makes me comfortable during our most intimate moments?

ABSOLUTELY.

My stomach is a no touch zone too though I’ve been trying to work on that. Mr. D has no issue with my belly or my body. Sometimes I wish I could see me like he sees me.

Ok, you just made me snort out loud…you are too funny…

and my stomach…has ALWAYS been an issue…the “no-touch-zone”!

I am liking your blog very much. Thank you for writing.

Ha; I totally feel you. (Figuratively. No pun intended. OK, maybe a little.) My stomach is a huge one too, especially after the C-section and the scar stayed and made this kangaroo-pouch-looking thing that stuck around and … ugh. I’m having issues just thinking about it.

It is great when they know exactly what’s what. My husband jokes about it. We had a huge fight early on about one ticklish spot (I’m angry when tickled; I mean ANGRY — definitely a mood killer), and now it’s like an inside joke.

And oh my gosh yes about pregnancy. I loved that! It’s the one time you’re allowed to eat like a cow and be blimp shaped and people find it appealing! It’s like pregnancy-belly hid all my actual-belly concerns. Awesome.

That is just so sad. Don’t you find it odd that you despise the part of your body that houses its most vital parts? Or that your navel-gazing, literally and figuratively, dictates the parameters of your sex life?

Good point anonymous. It is sad! Wish I could make it different.

We’re all that way, I’m afraid. I want to have a body I’ll probably never have. Getting over this self hatred is an important goal, don’t you think? You may not think that your body is you, but in a very real way, it is. So we have to learn to love our body, belly and all.

Easier said than done (though for me, it’s the thighs…)

I hate people to touch my underarms. I think it’s a sensory thing.
