You have seen the shows about tiny houses, right? Have you ever stayed in one? Have you ever thought about a tiny home vacation?
A tiny home is typically under 500 square feet and they have become popular because of their small impact on the environment and our wallets.
We have a fairly small house ourselves, by American standards at least, and we love it. Less to take care of and more cozy.
That’s how we felt when we visited Wee Casa in Lyons, Colorado, recently. They are a friendly, low-stress tiny home hotel right near the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, with nearly 20 rental spaces parked in a community setting. Lyons is also home to the world famous bluegrass music festival, RockyGrass – which we have attended several times. (Next time we know where to stay.)
Your Tiny Home Vacation in Lyons, Colorado
Unit 10 was our (tiny) home for the weekend, which is 165 square feet on the main level and 70 square feet in the loft. Yes, tiny! But not as “small” as that seems.
Dex claimed the loft because it was pretty much all bed.
We loved the fold-up murphy bed on the main floor and sliding barn down into a full bathroom including shower. Lots of clever use of space.
And a kitchenette if we wanted to cook (tiny) meals and clean up after ourselves.
We were too busy exploring the woods around Wee Casa…
…and eating at local institutions like Lyons Fork and Oskar Blues, or getting a tour of Spirit Hound Distillers.
We found Wee Casa to be a perfect little place to call home for a few days! It was affordable (starts $139 a night, with special rates for week and month-long stays) and convenient. We also loved the option of holding events there. A small wedding or family reunion would be so intimate and charming.
Who wants to come join us there?
Right now Wee Casa is offering holiday gift certificates – a fantastic present for Colorado locals – or even folks from out of town who will be visiting us in the new year.
Thanks for having us, Wee Casa. We’ll be back!
