Sofi Tukker at Denver’s Gothic Theatre

Sofi Tukker live in concert is a wild party. If I am being honest, I had no idea what was going on at first. The band is comprised of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern (thus the name), who met at college and had success right off the bat – including songs used by Apple and FIFA. I first heard of them on our local indie music station, but there were tons of people in the crowd who are bigtime Sofi Tukker converts and dressed much like the duo on stage.

Once I did some research on the band, there is a clear connection to Brazil, which explains the jungle theme on stage – although I can’t find any indication if that is familiar or just a love for the country. Either way, Sophie sings in Portuguese on some of the songs, and there are all kinds of eclectic beats through their songs.

But the clear message that Sofi Tukker brings is energy. They were all over the stage, interacting with fans and having a great time. The band is in Europe through the summer but returns to America for Life is Beautiful fest and Austin City Limits in the fall.
