2018 was definitely the year I was able to see acts I have always loved, but never thought I would see. Echo & The Bunnymen are one of my top bands from high school that I enjoy their recordings to this day – from Crocodiles to (my favorite) 1987’s self-titled album to 2014’s Meteorites and their new release The Stars, The Oceans & The Moon, which “transforms” many of our favorites.
Echo’s lead singer Ian McCulloch is known for a few things: his very distinctive voice, his very strong accent and the fact that he doesn’t move around much while performing. I was delighted to hear that Ian’s voice was just as glorious as you imagine from listening to their albums, which makes you not really care if he doesn’t prance around the stage.
As for his accent … yes, it was a little hard to understand. So much so, he commented on it and said there was probably someone from a Denver newspaper in attendance who would chastise him about it. Well, I don’t know about that, because trust me – we were there for the music.
