I’m sad to say I discovered The Interrupters on their hit song “She’s Kerosene.” Sad, because this ska-punk-pop crew has been around since 2011 and have three full-length albums under their belt. I missed out on a lot! When the three Bivona brothers and lead singer Aimee (cool spelling) hit Denver’s Ogden Theatre last month, it was pretty clear they have long-time fans here who are way more in touch than me.
All of them were all over the stage, as you can see from the photos below. It’s pretty much a given this would be a fun concert, but I loved seeing how excited the band was to be there.
Openers Masked Intruder were, in a word, a hoot. They all wear colored masks, and apparently Yellow was on hiatus due to … being in jail? I am not sure what accent Blue was trying to pull off, but his banter definitely had everyone laughing – a stark contrast to the cop standing on the stage to keep watch.
The good news is we don’t have to wait long for The Interrupters to return to Colorado. They will be with Dirty Heads at Red Rocks on July 9th (a lineup that also includes Dreamers and Bikini Trill). Can’t wait!
