It’s that time of year again! All the festivals are making their lineup announcements and one I get really excited about is UMS (Underground Music Showcase) here in Denver. UMS features hundreds of local Denver bands in dozens of venues over a long weekend. There are a few national headliners, but the real fun of this festival is wandering up and down South Broadway and finding new bands you like, and seeing your old favorites.
OK, the headliners are good too. Last year PPL MVR set the bar high again on the awesomely weird scale, but 2019 is bringing one of my favorites Honne – I will give them a pass for not wearing yeti (?) costumes.
Supporting artists include Empress Of, Yves Tumor, DRAMA, Sophie Meiers, LEIKELI47, Y La Bamba, Gardens & Villa, William Elliott Whitmore, Miya Folick, Tessa Violet, Haviah Mighty, Liza Anne, Spooky Mansion, Greyhounds, Dressy Bessy, DBUK, SWSH, Kainalu, Jackie Mendoza, Clavvs, Rapperchicks, Rich Jones, Divino Niño, Parallelephants, Deezie Brown, Garrett T Capps.
How About Those Locals, Though?
I need to update my 303 Day post of local music, because there are quite a few artists on this list I don’t recognize. Looking forward to seeing some new folks this year!
