I feel like summer is slipping through my fingers, and to prove it, my first concert at Levitt Denver of 2019 was just a few weeks ago. But I was not going to miss Rob Thomas, as I had never seen him before, either solo or with Matchbox Twenty. I always joke that he is like a “drug” writer, in that even if I don’t care for a song at first, within a few listens, I love it. So, it’s no surprise that I knew almost every song he played at Levitt Pavilion, even the new ones from Chip Tooth Smile.
Opening act Abby Anderson had a terrific voice, a terrific band, and a terrific presence to warm up the crowd. And warm it was! Levitt’s lawn was full of Denverites dancing their asses off.
Speaking of, I was super impressed with how much Rob interacted with his fans. There was lots of love between them, and you could tell how much he enjoyed being here. He even hinted at a Matchbox Twenty tour sometime soon, so keep an ear out. In the meantime, Rob Thomas continues the Chip Tooth Smile tour throughout the US into the Fall!
