The Black Keys, Band of Horses & Ceramic Animal at Red Rocks

It was another night with a triple threat list of bands at Red Rocks when The Black Keys, Band of Horse and Ceramic Animal hit the stage. Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys produces Ceramic Animal plus has them on his label, Easy Eye Sound – they are a great fit. Gritty blues rock was the name of the game for the whole show.

I was lucky to catch Band of Horses at Shaky Knees earlier this year, so – after never seeing them before – they have jumped up to a total fave live band.

And what can one say about The Black Keys? It’s been a bucket list item to photograph them for years, and I waited not-so-patiently through their hiatus for new music and a new tour. Lucky for all of us, they have delivered, and Dropout Boogie is probably my fave album to date. That energy translates to the live show, where Dan and drummer Patrick Carney make you feel that epitome of rock ‘n roll, right down to your bones.

The Black Keys tour continues into November, so you have plenty of chances to catch this phenomenal show. A special shout out to Colorado locals The Velveteers, who will be opening for the end of the run. ❤️
