Sum 41 & Simple Plan at Fillmore Denver

Since my kid started college up north a few years ago, I have become more aware of Canadian bands. But I can honestly say that I was apparently a dumbass in not knowing both Simple Plan and Sum 41 were from there until they roared through Denver with their tour named “Blame Canada.” I had seen them at Warped Tour and loved their music, but I’m très sorry for the faux pas there.

This sold-out tour was a co-headlining show and the bands flip-flopped who played last all the way. Our order at the Fillmore Denver was Simple Plan then Sum 41, but clearly fans were stoked whole heartedly for both. Twenty years in, these bands are still full of energy and fun – but there is a sense of maturity too.

There are a few more dates of the Blame Canada tour in Europe. Then, Simple Plan is out with The Offspring this fall while Sum 41 picks up that spot into winter. Deryck Whibley and the guys also have a new album out called Order In Decline. Hope they bring this grouping back to Denver again soon!
