First things first. I adore both Channel 93.3 and Weezer - that horrible covers album notwithstanding. So, when they came together for a "Uniconcert" at Mission Ballroom last month, I was pretty damn excited. The night was supposed to be a "one of a kind"…
It's be a few years since The Wombats visited us in Denver, and in the meantime they gifted us with a present for 2018: their fun new song, "Cheetah Tongue." The new album, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life (ain't that the truth) arrives on February 9th. If you have never seen a Wombats show, you will wonder why I was able to catch any of them standing still, at any moment, during the night, at all. Especially bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen. These guys are fun, loud, raucous and cheeky. The Denver crowd adored them and I also adore how much this band loves playing together. Openers Future Feats added a great element to the night. The Wombats tour heads back to Europe right now, but be sure to catch them when they come back to join Weezer and Pixies this summer.
The Wombats Photos - Denver
This past year was amazing for music and concert photography in Denver. We are lucky to be one of those "crossroads" kind of towns, so we end up in the path of many tours... but also, as I say all the time: Denver has a GREAT music scene. So, my round up of best photographs includes bands from all over as well as Colorado, in pretty much every venue Denver has to offer. Thanks to all the cool people who have helped me, encouraged me and rocked my world musically this year. Here are my 40 favorite concert photos of 2014, in no particular order.
I have been building this Christmas playlist for years now. It's a combination of traditional, alternative, indie, R&B, pop, and rock holiday music. While I do think the Christmas season starts too early, I will admit I listen to these songs non-stop from Thanksgiving all the way through New Year's Eve. Hope you enjoy! And please, suggest any songs you love that I am missing!
