Tyto Alba - Interview with Denver Band

Tyto Alba Interview and Video Release

Recently I got on the phone to chat with Tyto Alba, a Denver indie rock band who debuted their new video single at Syntax Physic Opera over the weekend. Melanie, Matt, Danny and Jeremy were super fun to talk with and I love the new…
Rob Drabkin Birthday Bash 2016

Rob Drabkin and Keaton Simons at the Bluebird

Rob Drabkin was one of the first Denver musicians I ever met, way before I started photographing them, so I never miss his January Birthday Bash at the Bluebird Theater. This year was extra special because Keaton Simons came in from LA to celebrate Rob's special day. I was able to look up the first time I photographed Keaton: 2011, with Megan Burtt - another Denver musician I know well and photographed separately just last week. The venn diagram of all this makes my head spin. Denver band Chimney Choir opened for these guys, and it was my first time photographing them (but not my last). Rob has been making a lot of beautiful videos lately, the lastest, "Down To Fate" and "Stay (Till The Morning Light Fades)," are featured on his Vevo page. As for Keaton? He is playing with Chris Cornell right now. You know, that dude from Soundgarden.

Thanks to all these great musicians for an awesome concert!

KTCL’s Top 10 Hometown For The Holidays 2015 #HTFTH

It's a big tradition at Channel 93.3's Not So Silent Night concert: the Top Ten finalists of Hometown For The Holidays are announced. This song contest has become such an ingrained part of the Denver music scene that some bands specifically record songs just for it.…
Dan Aid - Denver Music

Interview with Dan Aid: New Album, New Direction

If you have been around the Denver music scene for any length of time, you have probably seen one of Dan Aid's bands. I have photographed his most recent group, Wiredogs, on many occasions and was excited to hear his solo EP, The Quiet Place. It's different from his…

Underground Music Showcase (UMS) 2015: Photos Day 3

As I keep plowing through my thousands upon thousands of photos from Denver's Underground Music Showcase, I now have Day 3 ready to go. Saturday at the music festival is ALWAYS my favorite because of the SpokesBUZZ party. This non-profit does so many great things…

AMZY, Phases and Medic at Larimer Lounge

"I bet you think you're here to see X Ambassadors, right?" That was Sean from AMZY as I walked into Larimer Lounge a few weeks ago, ready to photograph, yes, X Ambassadors. Seems that band, as well as the previous first opening band had to cancel at the last minute and there was a major shuffle in the lineup. Fellow Denver band Medic was brought in and now AMZY would be headlining. Phases (you'll recognize their song "I'm In Love With My Life") continued on with their set, although their night was a little less frenetic as planned - the show had been way sold out. The good news is the place stayed about half full, and more importantly - everything now took on a "secret show" air. There was a certain sense of camaraderie between the bands and the crowd, and I have so say - it was one of the best AMZY shows I have ever seen. The guys even pulled off a cover of X Ambassadors big song "Renegades" with about 10 minutes of practice. Well done, y'all.
