I guess it goes both ways sometimes.

This morning when I dropped Declan off at school, I introduced myself to one of the other moms. An incredible feat in of itself, but that’s a story for another day. When I told her I was Declan’s mom, she said…. “Ahhhh! My daughter was talking about Declan! She just loves him. She called him her prince!” I nearly melted into a blob of goo right then and there on the playground.

Then, when I got home from work tonight Declan immediately ran up and told me that a kid from school today called him a “crybaby.” OK, well, Dex sort of is a crybaby sometimes – but what a little shit, huh? I asked him how that made him feel and he said sad and frustrated (duh). Bryan then told him that if anyone says that again, he can say, “well, at least I am a nice person!” Ha! I would much rather have Declan cry over things than be a big fat asshole. And apparently Bryan got called names out the wazoo as a kid, so Declan and I better get ready for it.

Then I told him about the little girl who likes him so much that she called him her prince. He reacted as if I was handing him an ice cream cone. Huge eyes and a big smile.

At least we ended the day on a high note. Good night, sweet prince.
