The Wild After - Lesson Learned

“Lesson Learned” by The Wild After (Live)

One of the great things about the Denver music scene is how interconnected everyone is. The Wild After is a fairly new band who has just released their first EP. Two members are formerly of The Heyday. The bass player is from Churchill. The drummer also plays in Ivory Circle. They all have other things with other bands that I honestly can't remember right now. Plus they all are backing up Matt Hires on his tour that started last night at the Marquis Theater.
Mayer Hawthorne Denver Concert

Mayer Hawthorne at Ogden Denver

I have seen Mayer Hawthorne several times before, either opening for others or as the main dude. His last stop at the Ogden was the first time I was able to photograph him, though - and it was worth the wait. Something that people don't…
Trombone Shorty Denver Concert Photos

Trombone Shorty

Note: Trombone Shorty provided concert tickets but all photos and words are mine.
I remember falling in love with Trombone Shorty's debut album "Backatown" in 2010 - but he really became a household name around these parts when he performed on Joe King (from The Fray)'s solo album. Shorty's second album "Say What To This" is just as amazing and I was absolutely thrilled to photograph his Denver show. Trombone_Shorty_01
Chautauqua Auditorium

Chautauqua Summer Concert Season 2014

Living in Colorado, you always hear about the amazing Chautauqua auditorium in Boulder but I have to make an embarrassing admission: I have never seen a concert there. Yes, I have been to Ignite Boulder events and I marveled at the building, but it just…
Amanda Hawkins - Denver R&B Pop Singer

Amanda Hawkins Concert Photos

I met Amanda Hawkins through a mutual friend and colleague, Tohbias Juniel, when he asked me to take photos of the Martin Luther King event in Denver last year. Amanda sang the national anthem and  I was blown away by her voice. I then fell in love with her single "Get Back In Line" and often watch the video when I just want to pick up my mood. She recently played at the school fundraising event I used to manage, Tellerpalooza. Let's just say little miss Amanda Hawkins blew to roof off the Bluebird. But more importantly, little elementary school girls watched her in awe. Absolute AWE. Proving events like this are not just about raising money. It's about showing these kids that anything is possible.

Katie Herzig Interview

I chatted with Katie Herzig last week about her new album "Walk Through Walls," her connection with Colorado and her process of making music. She was incredibly nice and down to earth. I love this album possibly more than her previous work (although, let's be…

The Mowgli’s Concert

Note: The Mowgli's provided tickets for their show, but words and photos are mine.Last year, the song "San Francisco" was playing on pretty much every radio station in Denver. It's a seriously fun tune, and after seeing The Mowgli's live in concert, I can promise…
