One Flew West, Lady Denim & Gestalt at Meow Wolf Denver
It was pretty exciting for me to visit Meow Wolf for the first time recently – and for a One Flew West concert! Not only are these guys longtime friends, but they have also recently signed a record deal with Smartpunk Records and, on the night of the show – released their first full-length album, The Blur.
Unsurprisingly, if you have never been to Meow Wolf, it’s a little confusing. First, there is the art immersion experience, which – here in Denver is called Convergence Station (due to its location at the center of Denver and the crossroads of Colfax and I-25). But Denver’s Meow Wolf also has a room inside called The Perplexiplex, which has started offering concerts (priced separately from the Meow Wolf entrance). As you can see from the photos below, the room is relatively small but visually stunning. It feels like going to church in a fevered acid-dripped fairytale land.
That made the venue perfect for One Flew West to debut their album and celebrate with tons of fans. Also on the bill were Lady Denim and Gestalt, fellow local bands who had legions of friends in the room as well.
As concert season ramps up again for the year, keep an eye out for all three of these talented bands! (P.S. If you happen to be in Texas this May, One Flew West is playing the So What?! Music Festival.)
