Larimer Lounge

Streets of Laredo band

Interview With The Band Streets of Laredo

Recently, I got on the phone with Dan from Streets of Laredo to talk about their album, their tour and our mutual love of Neil Finn. This kiwi band is actually the culmination of several other bands when brothers Dan and Dave came together to make…
SPELLS - Denver band at Larimer Lounge

SPELLS and Dirty Few at Larimer Lounge

If you like really funny television, I hope you have been watching Those Who Can't, featuring one of Denver's awesome comedy groups, The Grawlix. It's NSFW and makes me choke-laugh every time. If you like really loud rock and roll, go see SPELLS, whose lead singer…
Dragondeer at Larimer Lounge

Dragondeer with Jocelyn & Chris at Larimer Lounge

I met Eric Halborg many years ago when his band Swayback played my school fundraiser. That event has introduced me to so many local bands that I have stayed friends with over the years - and while I have seen Dragondeer play more times than…

AMZY, Phases and Medic at Larimer Lounge

"I bet you think you're here to see X Ambassadors, right?" That was Sean from AMZY as I walked into Larimer Lounge a few weeks ago, ready to photograph, yes, X Ambassadors. Seems that band, as well as the previous first opening band had to cancel at the last minute and there was a major shuffle in the lineup. Fellow Denver band Medic was brought in and now AMZY would be headlining. Phases (you'll recognize their song "I'm In Love With My Life") continued on with their set, although their night was a little less frenetic as planned - the show had been way sold out. The good news is the place stayed about half full, and more importantly - everything now took on a "secret show" air. There was a certain sense of camaraderie between the bands and the crowd, and I have so say - it was one of the best AMZY shows I have ever seen. The guys even pulled off a cover of X Ambassadors big song "Renegades" with about 10 minutes of practice. Well done, y'all.
