The Hives Concert Denver - Photos and Review - Ogden Theatre 2025

The Hives at Ogden Denver

The Hives brought their signature chaos to the Ogden Theatre in Denver, turning a Friday night into a full-blown garage rock party. Dressed in their trademark black-and-white suits, the Swedish quintet commanded the stage just like a band that has spent over two decades perfecting the art of controlled mayhem. From the opening riff, frontman Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist reminded everyone why The Hives built their reputation on unrelenting energy and sharp wit. He strutted, shouted, and spun his mic with the confidence of a rock preacher rallying a faithful crowd. Songs like “Main Offender” and “Hate to Say I Told You So” hit with the same raw punch that made them legends in the early 2000s.

Between songs, Pelle joked and bantered with the audience, somehow balancing arrogance and charm in a way only The Hives can pull off. Guitarist (and brother) Nicholaus Arson slithered around stage with crazed eyes, keeping the room vibrating with fuzzed-out guitar licks. Even the newer tracks blended seamlessly into their setlist, proving that their sound hasn’t dulled with time – it’s simply evolved into tighter, louder precision. The crowd, a mix of longtime fans and newer converts, never stopped moving.

The Ogden’s fairly intimate size made it feel like a sweaty basement show rather than a polished rock venue, which suited The Hives perfectly. By the time they closed out the night, the crowd looked equal parts exhausted and euphoric. It’s easy to forget just how many modern acts owe their swagger and stagecraft to bands like The Hives.

Seeing them live in 2025 was a reminder that while trends come and go, charisma and chaos never go out of style. Check out their latest album The Hives Forever Forever the Hives, and join me in hoping it’s not another 6 years before they return to Denver.
