Westword Music Showcase (WMS) 2018 Photos and Local Music Fun

Oh hi! Do y’all remember me? I blog here sometimes. If you have been following along with my personal life, you know that my beloved aunt passed away in late July and before that I was working on the estate of my mother, who passed in early 2017. To say the past year was difficult would be, well, obviously, an understatement.

Which has made me way, way, way behind on posting. Below are my faves (there are many) from the 2018 Westword Music Showcase (WMS), for which I was proud to be a promotional partner. Yes, the event was in June – but I worked so hard on it for months prior, I didn’t just want to toss the photos up.

WMS is one of my favorite days of the year. Local musicians play all day long at various venues in the Golden Triangle of Denver and then national acts take over into the night. This year, I was honored to host the VYBE stage with some of my very favorite Denver bands. My husband Bryan emceed and The Ape played music in between bands. Almost everyone knew the difficult time I was going through, and I got many, many hugs. Thanks for all the love, guys.

While my main focus at WMS was our locals, I had to sneak over to the main stage for Joywave. Because I love them and they freaking rule and luckily for us they return to Denver in November.

Other bands featured in the photos below: Chloe Tang, The Hollow, The SIR Band, CITRA and Slow Caves.

The Westword team was so great to work with and I am thrilled we find more fun things to do together every year.

Life is still going to be rocky for a while as I continue to work through the heaviness in my heart. But music and photography are balms for the soul. Just like all the wonderful friends we have here in the Denver scene.

See you all out and about again soon. ❤️
