I went to college in the late 80s – early 90s, in a sleepy little Florida town without much to do. We often ended up driving an hour to either Daytona or Jacksonville to go out dancing – during that post-disco, pre-EDM time. Meaning lots of Nitzer Ebb, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Skinny Puppy and Front 242. Most of which I never saw live, just danced to in a very dark club.
When I heard that Front 242 was coming to Denver’s Summit Music Hall, I was first in line (metaphorically) to see them. I mean, how often has this Belgian duo played here? (Never, to my knowledge.) Much like others of their era (Gary Numan, OMD) who have blown me away recently, Front 242 put on a kick-ass show. Sure, they got a little winded after jumping around stage for an hour – but I do that walking up the stairs here in Denver.
Front 242 heads back to Europe this summer, but here’s hoping we don’t have to wait too long for them to return.
