Gonna call it early: The Kooks and The Vaccines concert at the Fillmore Denver will be one of my all-time fave shows of the year.

If you didn’t know, The Kooks are a British indie rock band formed in Brighton in 2004. They rose to prominence with their debut album “Inside In/Inside Out,” featuring hit singles like “Naïve” and “She Moves in Her Own Way.” Fronted by Luke Pritchard, the band’s music is characterized by catchy guitar riffs, upbeat rhythms, and Pritchard’s soulful vocals. Over the years, The Kooks have released several successful albums including “Konk” and “Junk of the Heart,” solidifying their status as one of the leading acts in the indie music scene. And since 2024 is the 15th anniversary of “Inside In/Inside Out,” they decided to wow us with a tour playing the whole album and visiting the U.S. for the first time in at least five years.

Opening the show was another fave – The Vaccines. Formed in 2010, the band quickly gained attention with their debut album “What Did You Expect from The Vaccines?” which featured hit singles like “Wreckin’ Bar (Ra Ra Ra)” and “Post Break-Up Sex.” Led by frontman Justin Young’s distinct vocals and witty lyricism, The Vaccines was a perfect pick for this tour.

Sadly, we missed the other opening band – Daisy The Great – whom we have seen before and is wonderful live.

But both bands played explosive sets that had the packed crowded at the Fillmore dancing the whole night. One of the best things about concerts is seeing bands you love with other people who love the bands too – and that was definitely happening!

The Kooks continue touring through 2024 in Europe, including a bunch of cool festivals. The Vaccines continue to tour as well, this time with Kings of Leons, which will also be some special shows.
