Lovely Family Suites in Lisbon: Martinhal Chiado
I was recently in Lisbon, Portugal, for Web Summit and had planned to stay near the conference the whole time. It was a wonderful surprise when Martinhal Chiado Family Suites reached out and asked if I would like to stay with them for part of my time in their town. They had just opened a new hotel in the fantastic Chiado neighborhood. Lucky for me, the night I stayed there, Web Summit was holding a “Night Summit” nearby – Night Summit being a code word for “party”.
So I got to explore a hotel that I definitely plan to return to with my family, tucked in an area of town I would have been exploring that night anyway. Perfect!
Martinhal Chiado – Family Hotel in Lisbon
I stayed in a one-bedroom that was quiet, modern and well-appointed, but I could still look out the windows into the streets of Chiado and feel part of the scene.
I loved that they provided a baby chair – and an adorable one at that!
It’s all in the details.
I won’t lie, I jumped on the bed. It was comfy.
A full kitchen – and that panel to the right are Murphy bunk beds!
The entrance to the suite told me all I had to know… utter charm.
Martinhal Chiado also offers a “Kid’s Club” for babies up to 9 years old and they have a wide variety of activities for each age. I stopped by late at night after they had just closed – point being – they have late hours.
The reception staff was welcoming and helpful. On a personal note, I had been fighting a bad cold during my Lisbon trip and the morning after my stay at Martinhal, I decided to visit urgent care. These guys looked up where I should go, called me a cab and gave me information to make things easier for me at the hospital. So incredibly helpful. (P.S. I got some antibiotics and felt so much better within 24 hours!)
Martinhal tells me they have a car in all of their locations, but since the Chiado location in their smallest, it was only appropriate to this little guy here. Again, it’s all in the details!
This is their small family café for snacks – but there are tons of amazing restaurants in the area.
Martinhal Chiado has a range of room styles from a studio (€200 per night*) to one-bedroom (where I stayed, €240-290 per night) and a deluxe apartment (with much more room for €348 per night).
