Mayer Hawthorne at Ogden Denver
I have seen Mayer Hawthorne several times before, either opening for others or as the main dude. His last stop at the Ogden was the first time I was able to photograph him, though – and it was worth the wait.
Something that people don’t know about taking photos at concerts is most times, you only shoot the first three songs. Really. Pay attention next time, and you will hear three songs, see the photographers leave the pit – and then usually the musician will address the crowd. Obviously this puts pressure on you as a photographer, but it also frees you up for the rest of the show – and in the case of Mayer Hawthorne, gives you time to hang out with all your friends who are also in attendance. Lots of friends. And lots of dancing.
Mayer is a great singer and his band are great musicians. If you have never listened to his albums, all of them are great, but my person fave is “How Do You Do” – but I first fell in love with the song “Maybe So, Maybe No.” Really, you can’t go wrong with any of Mayer’s music, and certainly I recommend his concerts. On top of all that awesome, Mayer has teamed up with 14KT to form Jaded Inc., and their album “The Big Knock” will be available June 17th. Be sure to check it out!
I love Mayer Hawthorne! The Walk is a great song.
He is so great, Stevie!
I adore your photos Aimee! Please don’t ever catch up!
Ha Amy – I don’t think that will ever be a problem.
