Microwave, Oso Oso and Mothé at Gothic Denver
It’s pretty clear that I am behind on my posts – seeing as this show happened in early April 2023. Sometimes there are just so many shows, too little time. That doesn’t mean the concerts aren’t awesome though. Microwave, Oso Oso and Mothé put together great one here at Gothic Denver.
Microwave is an alternative rock band that emerged from Atlanta in the early 2010s. As you can see from the photos below, their set was the darkest, and perhaps the hardest of the three. That intensity was echoed back at them from their fans – with full crowd singalongs and crowd surfing.
Formed in 2014, Oso Oso gained recognition for their heartfelt and introspective songwriting. Jade Lilitri (formerly of State Lines) is the only permanent member. I found myself stopping to listen to his lyrics while photographing, which can be an occupational hazard!
The most personal performance for me was Mothé, who I met at last year’s UMS, and who also has the brothers from long-time pals and Colorado band Slow Caves touring with them. Mothé is super fun to watch live, and their infectious pop indie music always lifts my mood. Their tendency to hurt themselves on stage is pretty legendary too.
I definitely recommend seeing any of these bands when you can – together or separately!
