Summer Tubing Hill at YMCA’s Snow Mountain Ranch

We have visited Winter Park many times, with and without YMCA of the Rockies and the tubing hills in the area are one of our favorite attractions. When Snow Mountain Ranch told me they were opening a SUMMER tubing hill, I knew we had to go check out. For this trip, our best friends came along, so the six of us shared a cabin as well as all the fun activities there are to do on site.
Our favorite thing, by far, was the new summer tubing hill.
I apologize for the lower than usual screen quality; I was using an old waterproof camera while we were sledding, because I just wasn’t sure how rough and tumble it would be. The hill itself is like a carpet with a mist coming off it, so on a hot day like we had – the spray was very refreshing. The bumps in the hill make your stomach jump to your heart for sure, but the YMCA counselors at the top help shape the ride to your comfort level.
As you see in the video, we wanted to go as fast and as spinningly as possible.
Jeff, Danielle and their 6yo G are our family away from family. We do a lot of traveling together, so having them with us made this trip even more fun. Certainly the youngest among us were the most adventurous on the hill. I was probably the most nauseous.
Our friends had never been to Snow Mountain Ranch, so it was fun to show them around. They were surprised by the wide range of activities, and how – even when we got rained out from one, the crew was able to help us find other things to do. You know, our modern day version of that lodge in Dirty Dancing. During our stay, we ran from activity to activity and loved every minute of it.

And finally, just chilling together at the cabin.

Summer tubing looks like so much fun, where I grew up in Texas we used to do something similar using a big piece of cardboard on a steep hill. It was great summertime fun!
