The Front Bottoms, The Joy Formidable & Mobley at Summit Denver

It was a night full of rock and roll and musicality when these three bands took over Summit Music Hall in Denver: The Front Bottoms, The Joy Formidable and Mobley. I had never seen Mobley before, but he won me over with his innovative use of volunteers from the crowd to “play” their hands from the stage. I had seen The Joy Formidable before, so I knew it was going to shred during their their whole set.

And The Front Bottoms surprised me how hard rock their show was, compared to listening to their music digitally. I was not complaining, though, and neither was the crowd (who definitely knew what was going to happen and were very loud themselves). Their music blends elements of punk, folk, and alternative rock – which was on full display here in Denver. The band has a new EP called Theresa out now, and finish up their tour in December.
