My Morning Jacket - Concert Photos from Red Rocks

My Morning Jacket at Red Rocks

I had never seen My Morning Jacket before, but I had always heard they were amazing live. They proved this during their recent two-night  return to Denver’s Red Rocks Ampitheatre, along with second-night openers The Barr Brothers. My Morning Jacket is known for their in-your-face rock with definite 70’s undertones. The best part is they are all incredible musicians and took the whole place for a ride from start to finish. It was the perfect mix of bombastic sound from people who know what they are doing, but also enjoy what they are doing. A special highlight of the night was a gorgeous cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain” that pretty much left us all in tears. Frontman Jim James waterfall of hair alone is fun to watch as he wails on the guitar, but really… it’s the whole package that makes a My Morning Jacket show so special.
