The Wombats and Barns Courtney at Ogden Theatre
I have seen The Wombats at least three or four times now (including earlier this year) and they never disappoint. Dark room, loud music – exactly what you would expect at a pop-punk show. What I didn’t expect? A marriage proposal from stage. No joke. But frankly, what could be better than that?
Opener Barns Courtney (who I had never seen before) primed the crowd to perfection, and when The Wombats took the stage, it was very loud inside Denver’s Ogden Theatre.
When you listen to The Wombats music, it’s an eclectic mix of rock, pop, punk and everything in between. Here in Denver, they are played on a variety of radio stations (primarily our alt-rock station KTCL, but still…) – this further proves the appeal they have in many genres.
The latest album, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life, now has an extended version; be sure to check it out. The band is touring Australia and Europe next, but I look forward to the fifth, sixth and seventh time I see them live.
