Third Eye Blind - Denver Concert Photos - Red Rocks

Third Eye Blind & Taking Back Sunday at Red Rocks

I have seen Taking Back Sunday both at Riot Fest Denver and for their 20th anniversary, but – surprisingly – I had never seen Third Eye Blind. (??? – I know.) The two came together for the “Summer of Gods” tour, with Hockey Dad opening the night. After some stormy weather at Red Rocks, all three bands blew it out from Denver’s best concert venue.

Adam Lazarra is not a very subtle band leader and as you can see below, we sometimes had to watch for his swinging microphone during Taking Back Sunday’s set. The rest of the band matched his energy and got the crowd ready – although they did not need much of a push, since this was another one of those concerts that got delayed during pandemic.

I loved the maze-like woodland forest backdrop that Third Eye Blind had created, and the leftover wind from the earlier storm made the atmosphere perfect for their show. Stephan Jenkins’ voice sounds as good as I imagine it did 25 years ago, and I was glad I finally got to hear it.

The whole night was a celebration of rock and great bands that endure. Third Eye Blind finish up the tour this week and then have a few dates scheduled in October to round out the year.
