Toadies at the Ogden Denver

Toadies packed the Ogden Theatre for exactly the kind of sweaty, energetic rock show you want from them. These guys are yet another band I somehow missed seeing all these years, so I made sure to catch the 2026 tour here in Denver.

The Fort Worth band has been around since the late 1980s, but most of us discovered them through their 1994 debut album, Rubberneck. Songs like “Possum Kingdom,” “Away,” “Tyler” and “I Come From the Water” became essential parts of the alternative rock era. More than three decades later, they still hit hard live. I loved it!

The Denver set included plenty of those old favorites, and the packed crowd was ready for every one of them. The deeper cuts inspired a ton of shouting, jumping and crowd surfing throughout the Ogden.

This tour also brought new music from The Charmer, the band’s eighth studio album. Recorded with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago, it was one of the final albums he worked on before his death. The new songs fit easily beside the classics, carrying the same dark, muscular sound without trying to recreate Rubberneck.

That is one of the best things about seeing Toadies now. There is plenty of nostalgia in the room, but the band is not simply going through the motions. They are still making new music, still playing with intensity and still capable of turning a packed theater into a loud, unruly rock show.
