Winona Fighter Announces New Album and Denver Show
Winona Fighter will release its second album, Brutal & Extremely Underrated, on January 22, 2027, through Rise Records. The Nashville punk trio has also announced a North American tour that includes a February 10 show at Denver’s Bluebird Theater.
The new record follows the band’s 2025 debut, My Apologies to the Chef. Frontwoman Coco Kinnon, guitarist Dan Fuson and bassist and producer Austin Luther made the album themselves in a garage, holding onto the direct, human energy that runs through their music.
The announcement arrives with “LEECH,” the second song released from the album. The grungy track follows “BOMBS AWAY” and comes with a video directed by Hannah Hall.
Winona Fighter describes Brutal & Extremely Underrated as an evolution without abandoning the loud, melodic punk at the center of the band. Its 12 songs take on insecurity, damaged friendships and distrust in government, along with the frustration of trying to stay real in a culture increasingly filled with artificial content.
That idea extends to the recording itself. The band deliberately kept imperfect moments, including vocals that sound short of breath, instead of polishing away the evidence that actual people made the record.
The album artwork was created by Glen Martin Taylor, whose work with broken and reconstructed objects connects with the record’s themes of transformation and healing.
