Westword Music Showcase (WMS) Photos 2019 – 25th Anniversary
One of the problems with being a one-person site is getting behind on photos and not being able to do as much as you would like. Case in point: this post is about the Westword Music Showcase, which happened in late June. I was lucky enough to enlist my friend and very talented photographer Mark Tepsic to help me cover the event, because – being their 25th anniversary – it was just too much to handle.
We split up, and Mark took the headlining bands while I ran around for all our Denver locals. The day itself marked that summer had finally arrived in Denver, so it was a sweaty, fun affair. Mark’s photos below include SHAED, The Wrecks, The Knocks, LovelyTheBand, Crooked Colours, Jai Wolf, CHVRCHES and Jauz.
I had this grand plan that I would see soooo many locals since I now had “all this extra time,” but as these things go, part of the experience is just being there. I still managed to make it for Slow Caves, YaSi, Liptruce, The Velveteers, Emma Mayes & The Hip, Wes Watkins, The Hollow and CITRA.
WMS is special for many of us because Westword itself is committed to covering issues around the Mile High City, and their annual festival reflects that. It feels personal and committed to us. Putting on something like this for 25 years is quite an accomplishment.
Many congrats and here’s to 25 more!
