Young The Giant & Milky Chance at Red Rocks

I often say I have two different “top faves” lists for bands. One for lifelong listens like Stevie Wonder. The other for “new” faves – the more modern bands who I listen to constantly. Young The Giant is at the very top of that list. So when they returned to Red Rocks, with opener Milky Chance, I knew I had to be there.

Milky Chance is a German folk-pop duo formed in 2012, consisting of Clemens Rehbein and Philipp Dausch. Their breakout single “Stolen Dance” gained international recognition and topped charts in several countries. However, they are more well-known locally for their fun anthem,”Colorado,” which of course got everyone at Red Rocks up and dancing.

Young the Giant is an American rock band formed in Irvine, California, in 2004. Originally known as The Jakes, the band changed its name to Young the Giant in 2010. The group consists of Sameer Gadhia (vocals), Jacob Tilley (guitar), Eric Cannata (guitar), Payam Doostzadeh (bass), and Francois Comtois (drums). Their self-titled debut album, released in 2010, featured hit singles like “Cough Syrup” and “My Body,” which propeled them to mainstream success.

But Young the Giant is also known for their energetic live performances and Sameer Gadhia’s captivating lyrics, which add depth and emotion to the shows. The stage is always set with an array of lights, creating a dynamic visual backdrop that complements the music. Sameer Gadhia exudes charisma and connects with fans through his powerful and emotive singing. The band’s musicians, each talented in their own right, seamlessly blending their instruments into a cohesive and energetic sound.

As I mentioned, YTG are one of my top faves, so the last few albums have been on constant play. Their latest, the Both Sides EP, has a few live songs on it – so if you missed them on this tour you can see what I mean.
