Off to See the Wizard

If you haven’t been following the news or my whining, Denver has been experiencing the worst winter since we have lived here. In fact, we may approach the record highest snowfall set way back in 1908. (Which coincidentally, was also the last time the Democrats held their annual convention in Denver. Which, also coincidentally, they have decided to do again in 2008. A fact that seems to have eclipsed the news of me turning on comments with all the media outlets… but no matter. Either way I am just stoked I will be within a 5 mile radius of all those powerful liberals.)

So, when I saw the forecast for this week, I went a little (more) crazy in the head. I frantically punched the numbers for the travel agent and said, “You find some place warm for a reasonable price and I will go.” And then I called Danielle and forced her to agree to come with me.

And while the cost they came up with won’t exactly be covered by the loose change in the couch, I think my sanity is worth it. And Bryan thinks all the guilt and torment he’ll wring out the situation will be worth it too.

So. We are going.

Two weeks from today, Danielle and I will board a plane bound for Cozumel, Mexico. And while I will miss my boys – I am thrilled about the idea of sitting on the beach with drink in hand and no responsibilities other than feeding myself and peeing (occasionally).

And seeing as today’s high is 9 (let me repeat – n-i-n-e) degrees, I say it’s definitely time to get the hell out of dodge.

Here’s the interesting part. We don’t know where we are going. They have some sort of deal where, as part of that special price, you are guaranteed a certain level of resort but they don’t tell you which specific one you get till 24 hours before departure. Luckily Cozumel is a small island so there really aren’t that many resorts and all of them certainly suit my purposes right now.

And stepping out of the Type A Box is good for the soul once in a while, don’t you think?

So exciting! As my little girl would say, “you’re a good jobber!” Nice to step out of the comfort zone and into the sun. Soak some up for me, will you?
