And we’re off!

Hip, hip, hooray! We head out on our Mega Spring Break Grand Canyon Round Trip Road Trip Adventure today. We totally need to pack everything (and I mean everything) this morning and my meds must be working because I don’t even care. I’m just looking forward to getting on the road with the boys and taking 16,000 photos of rocks. We are camping some and hoteling some and bringing a laptop… mainly to provide Declan with some diversions over all those miles – but also so that I can download photos and hook in to the Net whenever possible. Because, did you know, campgrounds have Wi-Fi now? That’s just bizarre. So, I may actually have some updates from the road over the next week. If not, I’ll see yas next weekend.

Oh, and here is the route for the trip, in case you want to play along:

P.S. If you are wondering, no, we are not going to see the new Grand Canyon Skywalk. One, it’s on the north rim and a full day’s drive out of our way. Two, I tried to contact them for tickets and it’s pretty much a clusterfuck right now. And three, that thing looks scary as shit.

Have a fantastic trip. I think you picked a fantastic time of year for the desert SW. I can’t believe that you’re going to be so close to my “ranch” and I won’t be seeing you (we’re going April 4-8 – it’s relatively close to Williams). I spent many a good time in Moab (and Blanding, which is nearby). I cant’ wait to see your pics.

That sounds like a blast! I had a deprived childhood and I’ve never seen the grand canyon, so post millions of pics!

    Have a great trip!

They had that Skywalk thing on CNN the other day, and they said they were charging (or, thinking of charging, it may not be worked out yet) something like $50 to get on the reservation and $25 for a ticket for the Skywalk. Yikes!

Oh, and they don’t let you bring cameras, because they don’t want people dropping them and scratching the glass, which would eventually ruin the view.

    Doesn’t seem worth it!

I see you are stopping in Moab, going to Arches National Park? I climbed “Delicate Arch” about 10 years ago. (Wish I still had the pictures.) Have fun!

Campgrounds have wi-fi? Get out!!! That’s so weird.

I see you’re stopping in Moab. I flew over Moab last year and it’s SO cool looking from a plane!

I’ve never been to the Grand Canyon but maybe someday. Have a fun and safe trip 🙂

Have fun! I must be the only person in the blogosphere who is kinda fascinated (in a positive way) by the Skywalk. Maybe someday.
