Train at Red Rocks

This has been the year to catch bands I should have seen 20 years ago, but for whatever reason, never have. Train hit Red Rocks like a ton of bricks, supporting their catchy new album AM Gold, and making me sad I had waited so long to see them.

I’m not kidding about that explosion, since confetti obscured the band for almost a minute! Lead singer Pat Monahan was all smiles for the sold out crowd and his strong voice carried their pop rock tunes all the way to the back of Red Rocks.

Even more endearing, Pat had lost a bet to bandmate Taylor Locke (who apparently is a big Colorado Avalanche fan) and he had to wear one of our jerseys on stage. [For posterity: 2022 was the Avs’ third time winning the Stanley Cup, so the crowd was pretty jazzed about this bet too.]

For even more fan interaction, Train encouraged cell phones be tossed to Pat – and while personally I would be terrified to do this – I am sure diehards loved getting SUPER up close photos of the show.

Opener Jewel joined Train for their joint track on AM Gold, titled “Turn The Radio Up,” and WOW, talk about two voices that sound incredible together.

You can bet I will be eager to not to miss this band the next time they visit Colorado. They have a few more shows in 2022, so hopefully you won’t either.
